All That Glitters Was for The Critters

Jewelry from Sequin

Elizabeth Taylor's recent jewelry auction at Christie's, New York, had no dazzle on The Potter League's fifth annual "Critter Glitter" sale to benefit its animals, which was glitzy, glamorous, and had lots of bling.

As the second floor of League's facility on Oliphant Road became a bejeweled and bedecked store, with wine and hors d'oeuvres served , the ladies of Newport flocked to the "Girls Night Out" opening party, picking up bracelets, necklaces, earrings and other bijoux from the well-stocked tables.

"Critter Glitter" featured exquisite sample fashion costume jewelry from Newport's Sequin’ selling at 50-80% off retail prices. Enamel bracelets, contemporary necklaces, playful pins and the latest earrings, which are sold at New York’s most exclusive stores, were arrayed for the delighted shoppers. Kim Renk of Sequin generously donated the jewelry, with a 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Potter League.

One happy shopper left saying, "there goes $750 – but my Christmas shopping's done."

A new “for men only” event included a beer tasting, appetizers, personal shopping assistance, gift-wrapping and door prizes. The gentlemen enjoyed stress free shopping for the women in their lives while helping the animals.

Spotted, too,  was selected jewelry from Berebi and selected merchandise for pet lovers.

Seen were Diana Sylvaria, Terry and Rick Grosvenor (a few gentlemen did not get the memo!) Judith and David Enstone,  and Annie Berl. Staff members Christie Smith, Debbie Elliot, and Ginny Holbridge were working the room, Ms. Smith holding a raffle for a surpise jewely bag.  Jane Moore of the Board supplied the munificent hors d'oeuvres.
