Angela Moore Fashion Show, “Style With a Smile,” at Tennis Hall of Fame

Tennis star and championship contender Taylor Dent, NBC sports anchor Frank Carpano, Miss Rhode Island 2007 Ashley Bickford, and the irrepressible Bud Collins enlivened (and modeled in) the 10th annual Angela Moore fashion show, held at Casino during the recent Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Championships. The fashion show is a tournament fixture, and is always sold out.

Featuring Angela Moore’s stock of pink-and-green Lilly Pulitzer and Manuel Canovas collections of apparel and accessories, the show drew a dressed-up audience for champagne and quiche. Part of the fun was seeing friends and locals model the fashions, often with their family members: Kathryn Farrington with her niece, and Barbara Bohan with her two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Cecilia. Ross Cann was particularly sporty, and Carolyn van Patten tres soignee. Also modeling were Kathy Carpano, Danielle Costas, Karen and Grace Megley, Susan Noel, and Carol and Scott Williams.

Bud Collins, aka “Mr. Tennis”, known for his pants in vivid florals, bantered with Angela about his acquisition of them, and introduced the ball girls from the tournament, whom he said “had not drowned, but were taking scuba lessons”. The models looked wonderful, relaxed and happy in beachwear, day wear, and evening apparel.

In the appreciative audience were Ellen Barnes, Elizabeth Lewis, Ruth Orthwein, Candy MacDonald, Mary Ambrogi, Annabelle Harris, and many out of town guests.

A drawing was held prior to the modeling for a signed sports print, and was won by Jenna Roby. The festivities continued through the afternoon at the Angela Moore shop on Bellevue, as Bud Collins, with wife Maria Collins, signed copies of his book, "The History of Tennis", and ladies shopped for gowns and the new “Tennis Tales” collection, for which Ms. Moore is donating 15% of proceeds to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
