Celestial Gala, A Celebration for The America Cancer Society

And heavenly it was, at the redesigned Country Club at Mirasol  in Palm Beach Gardens.

The string orchestra

More than 170 guests were welcomed by the lovely sounds of an accomplished small string orchestra from the John I. Leonard high school, playing classical favorites such as Pachelbel’s Canon and a pastiche containing The William Tell Overture and a Brahms Symphony excerpt.

Flowing into a vaulted room where the silent auction and bar were set up, along with a wine auction overseen by Joy Farley RN, the guests bid, sipped, and drifted out onto the terrace to watch a beautiful moonrise.

Meanwhile, the Memory Lane orchestra was gearing up in the capacious dining room, where emcees for the live auction Joe Coscia and Felicia Rodriguez  (of WPBF 25 news) elicited spirited bidding from the guests.  Two popular offerings were Palm Beach prosecutor for a day, and Palm Beach County Sheriff for a day.

The American Cancer Society has achieved many new breakthroughs and new treatments, aided by donations and events such as Celestial Gala.

The evening honored Murray Friedman, and the featured speaker was Lauren Martin.
