Fashion, Tradition & Tennis Served At Angela Moore Show

Traditional lawn tennis exhibition doubles match

It was advantage: Angela, at the Angela Moore 11th Annual Fashion Show and Champagne Breakfast celebrating tennis and fashion with a day of fundraising and fun. Held on Thursday, July 8th, the sold out show was the kickoff to weekend festivities during the Campbell’s Hall of Fame Tennis Tournament at The International Tennis Hall of Fame.

The event grossed over $20,000 in proceeds that go towards maintaining and enhancing the International Tennis Hall of Fame, bringing the total raised through the Angela Moore Ladies’ Day events to over $220,000.

Gorgeous weather set the tone for a beautiful day. Over 220 guests enjoyed breakfast and sipped champagne on the historic Horseshoe Piazza, which was transformed into a fashionable summer paradise.. In keeping with the show’s special look, Lilly Pulitzer provided their signature colorful linens. Lucky guests also received raffle prizes from Fila, the Tennis Hall of Fame, Blackstone Caterers, Three Islands, and the salons of Celebeautique, Kira and Jo D’Alan.

Celebrity models included Hall of Famer Bud Collins, NBC10 sports anchor Frank Carpano and Miss Connecticut USA Ashley Bickford, who wore colorful fashions while being interviewed by Angela Moore. A special treat also included ATP tournament stars Dustin Brown and Tomasz Bednarek, both quarterfinalists in the tournament, modeling men’s fashions while escorting models down the runway.

The colorful fashions reflected the theme of this year’s show, “Looking Good and Feeling Great … Newport Style!” Local models posed on the runway of the Horseshoe Piazza in classic and vibrant fashions from Lilly Pulitzer, Manuel Canovas and Angela Moore. Some notable newcomers to the show included Project Runway designer Kara Janx and Jack Rogers’ debut of his clothing line. Outfits were accessorized with hats, scarves and bags by the highly publicized Moyna Bags, Big Buddha bags, Fornash Scarves and Madagascar Hats. Angela commentated on 3 sets of fashions ranging from “daytime dazzle” and “beach baby” fashions to “moonlight magic” elegance. Each set included 15 to 20 models.

Immediately following the fashion show, Angela Moore hosted a Champagne and Summer Style Party at her 190 Bellevue Avenue boutique. It was an afternoon filled with champagne, tasty treats, informal modeling and shopping.

ATP star and quarterfinalist Ryan Harrison visited the store to autograph tennis balls and provide commentary about his tennis style. Angela presented Ryan with a Three Islands shirt and an Angela Moore Newport Mansions bracelet for his mom. Guests mingled with Ryan and Bud and snapped up the Angela Moore Tennis Tales collection.

Bud Collins was also on hand to sign copies of his book The Bud Collins History of Tennis: An Authoritative Encyclopedia & Record Book Tennis Encyclopedia.
