I Love Lucy’s –- Actually, Both of Them!

Tatum Toppa & Claire Davidson as the two Lucys

Two adorable moppets in red wigs and 1950’s style housewife garb set the tone for the 1950’s - inspired fundraiser for the 25th anniversary celebration of Lucy’s Hearth, the social service agency that provides emergency shelter, food, and training for homeless women and their children. Even the evening’s red program listing live auction items mimicked the heart logo that started the iconic TV show.

The evening honored the work of June Gibbs and Pauline Perkins Moye, and was co-chaired by Hillary Davidson and Robin Phillips. On the lawn and under a sprawling tent at Castle Hill, Board Chairman Gale Bay greeted guests, while the two “Lucys”, Tatum Toppa and Claire Davidson, sold raffle tickets. Former Congresswoman Elizabeth Gibbs was there with her mother, honoree June Gibbs. Jerry Kirby spoke with friends, and Barbara de Portago of the Versaille Foundation posed with Marita Wilmot.

A delicious buffet dinner was served on the lawn, and committee member Mark Horan and Salve Regina’s Michael Semenza dined al fresco.

The silent auction featured wide array of items, from a photo by Betty Lou Wright and apparel from Michael Hayes to services and travel, and was the scene of lively bidding.

All set to 1950’s music, with Frank Sinatra crooning “Three Coins in a Fountain” in the background.
