It was a day-long golf, tennis, spa and sporting event at the Carnegie Abbey Club as the 5th annual "Day in Paradise" welcomed sunshine and guests on a recent Saturday.
Co-founder of Ishi Dojo and Carnegie member David Piccoli, II acted as master of ceremonies at the day's closing barbecue, and informed participants that the center runs program in fitness, nutrition, tutoring, dance and culture for ages 6 to 18, and offers scholarships. Several people were on hand to give testimonials. Alessandro Molino, a social worker, described the Center's mission, and Teen-agers Jose Perez and Lindsey Supernal told moving stories of how the Center had helped them through difficult times.

Dave Fleury was the overall winner in the golf tournament, and Suzy Derido was the winner in the women's golf event. Tennis players Candy McDonald and Annabelle Harris described the luxury of being served food and beverages at courtside. Arthur Barone was a winner, and Matt Padone had the longer drive in the men's division. Kelly Lambrese and Heather Savoie bid on silent auction items. The barbecue dinner was served on the porch, and the guests were serenaded by a contemporary western band.
