Junior League of Rhode Island “Gems of Newport” Soiree

The silent auction table

On a wet and blustery Saturday recently, members and guests of The Junior League of Rhode Island presented fund-raising, self-guided tours of historic inns and luxury hotels, "Gems of Newport: A Holiday Hospitality Tour and Marketplace”. The inns, which included The Chanler, The Francis Malbone House, Hilltop Inn, Ivy Lodge, and the Sanford-Covell Villa Marina, were bedecked in all their holiday splendor, and a successful holiday marketplace was held during the day at The International Tennis Hall of Fame, with proceeds benefiting The Junior League and its charitable works.
That evening, a "Gems Soiree" was held for 200 guests at the Newport Art Museum, where lavish holiday tables were on display, and special gallery exhibits. Pianist Dawn Chung from the Rhode Island Philharmonic played holiday music on the landing of Griswold House, as co-chairs Amy Webber and Nancy Serpa mingled with guests. Soiree captain Reece Tormos saw that everyone was enjoying the party, calling it “a team effort”, while Katie Roberts served hot hors d’oeuvres. A silent auction and holiday raffle completed the day of festivities in Newport. Guests dined on creative canapes, and sipped champagne and wine.
