Party in the Garden Delights Guests at the Redwood Library

Co-chairs Betsy Ray & Kit Williams

"How deeply seated in the human heart is the liking for gardens and gardening." ---Alexander Smith

The weather was clement, champagne chilled, and the chapeaux (men's and women's) tres chic at The Redwood Library's Annual Garden Party, postponed this year to September because of the untimely arrival of Hurricane Irene. No matter: the long term supporters of the Library were out in full force, listening to the strains of the Mike Walsh Trio and savoring the lingering sunset.

Jean Gorham once again created a bursting centerpiece of sunflowers to rival Van Gogh's, the hors d'oeuvres were delicious, and the conversation genteel.

Newport Seen spoke with Dr. Gary Fischer, Sid Gorham, Mary Riggs in a wonderful hat, Don and Jana Jagoe, the charming Admiral Tom Weschler and his wife Trina, in from Connecticut, and Jack Jefferies. Fun Jenkins and Jerry Baum attended, as did Linda and David Gordon, and Barbara and Warren Caldwell on the bucolic afternoon. Nancy Parker Wilson, Johnny Stokes and Library Director Ken Brockway, conversed. Nicholas Sheetz was with friends.

The most outrageous hat was concocted by young Janine Atamian, with help from her friends.
