The Sweetest Brunch in Town at The Visiting Nurse Services

Chocolate ruled the culinary repertoire, luring Newport Seen, and excellent food tempted the palates of friends, board members and supporters of the Visiting Nurse Services' annual Chocolate Brunch recently. Diners came to the Rotunda at Easton's Beach on a perfect Sunday afternoon to support the agency's excellent work.

Along with classical music by the Lois Vaughn Trio, an elaborate silent auction auction tempted bidders with such goods and experiences as original paintings and photographs, clothing, cultural experiences, fine dining, getaways, jewelry and luxury items, and health and beauty offerings, all donated by local businesses and individuals.

CEO of Visiting Nurses Jean Anderson, Jan Gordon, and co-chairs Libby Kirwin and Leslie Reed greeted guests, spoke about the VNS's work and thanked supporters, NewportFed and other corporate event sponsors.

But the food was the "dish" as friends chatted over flaky chocolate-filled croissants, divine egg dishes, and the superb chocolate desserts, all served up by Russell Morin. Edible Arrangements provided scrumptious fruit kebabs. There was even a hot chocolate bar!

Convivial round tables were filled by Cheryl and Harry Mrozowski, Robert and Diane Beaver, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse , Sister Therese Antone, Barbara Weatherford, Juliette McLennan, Jeff Gordon, Dick Erwin, Gisela Brown, Terry and Pat Toppa and a raffle for a spa getaway at Winvian Resort in Lakeville, Connecticut was won by Laura Pila. Congressman David Cicilline arrived late, but in time for the desserts.
