The lawn of Mrs. Claiborne Pell’s beautiful oceanfront home was the setting for an exclusive high tea, “Tea for Tails”, to benefit The Potter League, last weekend.
On a beautiful summer afternoon, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse chatted with State Senator Teresa Paiva Weed, and Clay Pell, Mrs. Pell’s grandson. Mrs. Helen Winslow laughed in the tent with Nuala Pell, Noreen Stonor Drexel sat with Donald Christ, and Jana and Don Jagoe enlivened their table.

Champagne was served, along with scones with jam and whipped cream, and tea sandwiches cut in the shape of dog bones. A guitarist provided musical accompaniment.
Rather than a silent auction, a raffle was held for five exquisite and unusual
pieces: Berebi Foo Dog cloissone boxes, an Ezulwini Photo Safari, a Meg Little designer rug, and an NCA & BTW Pet Palace. Each ticket was $100.
Artist Christina Pell Randall walked the grounds with her little ones, and Kathy Irving arrived late, just home from Washington state. Jane Moore, Jim Moore, Emlen Drayton, and other volunteers waited tables, as Christie Smith and Pat Heller from the Potter League greeted guests.
